FUTURA: passione design

In an entirely new guise, Spangaro & Co opens its auction season with a selected design catalogue. Having always been interested in furniture and modern antiques, the owner wanted to place alongside watches and jewellery, objects of value and ingenuity worthy of equal beauty and importance. The catalogue includes a selection of modern, sometimes extroverted furniture and lighting by recognised designers and signatures. Plastics alternate with coloured resins and precious glass, including Venini, which has always occupied a prestigious and valuable place within the artistic panorama. The authors present are diverse, from Ettore Sottsass with his whimsical designs to the classicism of Gio Ponti to Tobia Scarpa with one of his most refined designs. Part of the catalogue is also meant to be a sincere tribute to one of the most bizarre and fascinating personalities on the artistic scene, Gaetano Pesce, with a selection of items designed and engineered by him. An icon of a playful and never banal design, with his production he wanted to celebrate a different beauty, sometimes imperfect, and for this reason more fascinating and worthy of curiosity. FUTURA therefore wants to be a eulogy to courage in the pursuit of beauty in all its forms.
