The birth of the reference 5513 can be placed with
the beginning of the 1960s, more precisely in 1962 and from there
will become one of the most successful and iconic productions
of Rolex Submariner so much so that it will remain in the catalogue
until 1989.
In the collective imagination, even for the less experienced
of technical numerics, it is a timepiece of wide recognition because it was worn by Roger Moore, or
better James Bond, in the film ‘Agent 007 - Live and Let Die’.
For the first five years or so of production, the graphics,
as in this batch, are ‘gilt’ or gold-plated and
contrast on the lacquered dial typical of this reference with the metre marker shown first as the unit of measurement of resistance to depth
due to water pressure during immersion.
The watch is complete with the original bezel insert
commonly known as the Long 5 due to the
graphic proportions of the number, which is difficult to find on similar
objects presented in other sales outlets and attests to its historical consistency.
Of particular interest is the matching bracelet 7206/80
for the reference and is in mint condition. The patina of the luminescent markers,
so-called “pallettoni”, with their intense honey tones
beautifully complements the gold graphics of the
dial, becoming a unique feature.
